2.  PORTLAND WEEKENDER, June 21-23, 2019

UPDATE:  June 10.  TWO POSSIBLE OPENINGS! Speak with me before you submit any payment.

We will spend the weekend in Portland, ME when the beautiful rosa rugosas will be in bloom!

HOUSE RENTAL: I have rented a house in Old Orchard, ME for two nights, June 21 and June 22. It is 3 blocks from the beach and a 15-minute walk to The Pier (and only 22 mi. from Portland.) It can sleep 10. Description: upstairs – a large living room, long porch, two bedrooms, large kitchen; a small apartment downstairs with a bedroom, living room, and small kitchen. Participants must be flexible as we have a combination of beds and futons, room sharing, and a few, if they’re game (like the organizer,) will sleep on a cot. It’s a super way to be able to visit Portland for such a low cost.

PARKING & CARPOOLING:  There are only 6 parking spaces available at the house, so we can not travel with more than 6 cars; we’ll carpool from CT. If a few cars have two people and other drive solo, we’ll have our 6 cars max. We WILL carpool around Portland, possibly 3 per 3 cars.

DEPARTURE:  About 7:00 am on Friday. Return Sunday evening.

FRIDAY:  We drive up along the Maine coast stopping for some images from Kittery to York (the Nub) and Kennebunk. Lunch en route. We check into our house after 2:00 pm and get settled. We will spend the evening around Old Orchard, doing a sunset down at The Pier, the surf, the famous amusement park across from the Pier.

PLANS FOR SATURDAY & SUNDAY are being fine-tuned.

This weekend is Portland’s version of the “tall ships” with schooner regattas in the harbor. For $46, people can sign up on Sunday to join a racing schooner.

SATURDAY:  If there is interest and weather-permitting, we will do a sunrise shoot at Portland Head Light. We will photograph two other lighthouses nearby, one that has amazing views of the entire harbor and Portland. Then we’ll have breakfast at a cool diner in Portland and photograph around the harbor/Old Port. We have a lighthouse /islands cruise at noon. In the afternoon, we will explore artsy downtown Portland with eatery pitstops and great architecture. After dinner in Portland, we will visit three lighthouses on land and photograph one of them at sunset. We might capture the illuminated night skyline of Portland.

SUNDAY: Breakfast at a cool place near the rental house and the beach. More Portland and harbor visits. View of Portland from a very scenic hill. More plans are being worked out. Leave in the late afternoon.

COST: (for the lodging) $79.95

Again, as we have limited room, please check with me first to get the go-ahead to make your payment if interested.
